ENCYCLOPAEDIA ORBICA:

The Encyclopedia

of the World of Orbivm

Compiled by the scholars of the great and ancient city of Lavinium in the 1000th year of the Age of the Knight, this Encyclopedia is comprised of a History of the realms of Orbivm, a catalogue of the Races of Orbivm, an explanation of the Historical Persons, Beasts, Maps, and Artifacts of Orbivm, and a view of the Supernatural as it manifests itself in Orbivm.

The Histories

Prehistory

Histories of time before Man began to record history are, at best, conjecture. None of what is said here is necessarily true. But the people of Orbivm, for the most part, believe it to be so.

Age of the Spear

The first recorded age in the history of Orbivm, the Age of the Spear, began sometime after the Dwarves arrived, but before the Elves did. It is so called because of the spears which were so prevalent at the time, when the art of metalforging was in its infancy.

Airiya, Dvergken, Dardanoi, Keltoi, Laviniani, Nemidians, Orcish Horde

Age of the Empire

The second age of Orbivm, the Age of the Empire, began with the arrival of the Elves from across the northern ice floes. It was so called because of the Lavinian Empire, which ruled most of the known world during this time span.

Arendians, Cavernei, Frost Elves, Lavinian Legion, Marauders, Orcei Gladiatores, Sidhe Elves

Age of the Knight

The third age of Orbivm, the Age of the Knight, began with the fall of the Lavinian Empire and the crumbling of the northern alliance between the Frost Elves and the Marauders. It was so called because in it, the old imperial system decayed, and a new one, that of the knight, took its place.

Aragwaithi, Clockwork Dwarves, Feudals, Droch Fae, High Elves, Kedari, Ainsarii, Khaganate

The Races

Elves

The Elves were the last race to arrive on Orbivm, and the only one to arrive after history began.

Frost Elves, Sidhe Elves, Droch Fae, High Elves

Dwarves

The Dwarves live underground, for the most part, but interact occasionally with the overworld.

Dvergken, Cavernei, Clockwork Dwarves

Men

Men are the dominant race in the central regions of the continent.

Airiya, Dardanoi, Keltoi, Laviniani, Nemidians, Arendians, Lavinian Legion, Marauders, Aragwaithi, Feudals, Kedari, Ainsarii

Orcs

The Orcs are despised by all other races, and do not appear to have any redeeming qualities.

Orcish Horde, Orcei Gladiatores, Khaganate

People, Places and Things

Biographies

Many elves, men, dwarves and orcs have had a direct influence on the history of Orbivm. Their lives have been recorded here.

Bestiary

In addition to the people of Orbivm, there are the various creatures who live on the continent. Here we catalogue their numbers.

Cartographies

The Map of Evrosia - The peoples of Orbivm live on the continent of Evrosia, whose geography is described here.

Political Maps of Evrosia - The different ages brought many changes in the political geography of Evrosia.

Artifacts

The peoples of Orbivm have produced many great works.

The Supernatural

Religion

The various races of Orbivm have different views of the nature of the world they inhabit.

Metaphysics

The world of Orbivm is composed on three planes - the rational, the physical, and the fey.

Magic

The force of magic is not completely understood by the people of Orbivm, but some is known.

Flametrooper's edits of the [Keltoi] page look awesome. They should be used as a model for all of the other pages... have !!Description, !!History, and !!Religion. Anything else needed?

I added Steppe Orcs to the list of factions. However, I'm still not completely happy with that idea.. if we do it, we should IMHO also have an Orces-Gentorum-related faction. It's OK to have 2 orcish factions in one era.

I think that as done with the Marauders, that Details on the groups/tribes/clans within the faction. For Example, the Marauder Houses, Arendian Clans, Orc Tribes.

I myself think that the Steppe Orcs would come in at the end of the Imperial Age, and completely blitzkrieg the Orces Genotorum, who, have nothing left to raid to get thre weapons and armor. And are therefore easily killed and overtaken.

Agreed. Go for it. Your specialty is the Sidhe; why don't you start by editing the Sidhe page and adding that sort of information?

Problem I see with the Sidhe, is that they don't have clans just an established government, with 12 provinces under the rule of a Thunderblade. Since, we all know Thunderblades seem to die so easy, I'll have to disucuss the basic government make up, and 'The way of the Thunderblade'

Discuss the basic government, the way of the thunderblade, and where the 12 provinces are (at least general area).

Since Turin and I agreed to have the Airiya only in the Ancient Era, I deleted mention of them from the Imperial Era.

NEW POLICY ON IMAGES - Instead of constructing the unit trees by uploading the unit images here and linking to them, it seems a better idea to link to the images in SVN. So do that from now on. I've already updated the Lavinian Legion page, so you can see the correct method there.

I've noticed that we seem to be skipping about in tenses quite freely - the Orcish rabble page, for example, is in the present, while the Aragwaithi are in the past. We should use one tense and stick with it.

All pages should be in the past tense. The encyclopaedia is, after all, written from the perspective of scholars who live after all the stated events.

MOVING TO USE MEDIAWIKI... at least, I think we should. I've set up a new site; it has all of the data currently here, plus some. So don't add info here, add it there!

If you disagree with this decision, email me. Unfortunately the forums are down so I can't announce this there.
